Title says it all. Looking for someone to come grab this 4.8 and put it into something else. I had it in my datsun , ran great but the car never moved because the transmission I’m using T56 would need a longer input shaft to work. What I’m trying to say is that you’ll need to use a automatic .. 4L60 , T350 , T400 , and if you asked me I’d say go with a 700R4 or one of those new snazzy 6 speed automatics found in the new camaros but then you’d be spending more money on the trans than you would this little ole 4.8. You could also buy a longer input shaft for your T56 if that’s the route you choose to take.

I was told the engine had 105k miles .. I’ve gone through the engine as much as possible without removing the heads and things seems to be in good condition. Another common issue with high mileage LS engines is “ Lifter Tap” which this motor has ZERO of.

2000 4.8 Iron Block - STOCK 105k - $500 .

Located in Dallas Fort Worth Texas.

Damn if I still had my 240 or 740 volvos I would be all over this.

It’s 2015 you could put this 4.8 into anything.. And at 500 it doesn’t really break the bank.

I don’t have any cars that need a V8 swap. Granted a V8 BD legacy would be awesome BUT that is my DD and my Cobras 5.0 Windsor makes more HP than a stock 4.8.

Tempting, but the cost to get it to RI would negate the cheap price of the motor.

The rare moment a stock ford motor makes more than a LS prior to 2014.

My 240Z’s original engine is rebuilt now, I’m set! I’m on phase two right now and the car should be done in the next week. When I finish up I will do a post.

You know I’d probably still have a L24/26 in my car if it was a 240/260z .. But it’s not and the L28E was a piece of trash... could have put my money towards a turbo set up but the easiest way to make 350hp was putting a LS in the car.

Looks nice man !

For sure up to the early 260s are ok, but they become overly complicated and bloated from then on. I forget when it happens but they thicken the sheetmetal as well in the later 260’s, everything gets heavier. By the 280 they are 300+lbs heavier than a 240z. I have a weird early series two/1971. It still has the smuggler doors in the back and some stuff like a chrome gas door latch knob thingy but it has the series 2 vents to counteract that pressure problem. I have many things done now, got the rear disks all done, used a kit with Maxima brakes. I got some individual top springs for the carbs, an ITG air filter, changed out all the heater hoses in the dash so they don’t explode at random, got some new fuel filler parts because some had a crack and fumes leaked. New wheels. Its almost done, I will post some pics in a few days when I shake it down.

Well your car is much cleaner than mine to say the least.. I’m going to hopefully pick up my new motor this weekend and start working on the cam set up.. Hoping to make 325-350 to the ground when it’s said and done.

I don’t know how much mine weights but seeing how I’m throwing so much more power at it I’m glad I’ve got a 280 with thicker metal. The R200 rear diff is a nice touch too. I’ve now got a LSD R200 and a open R200 still need to install the LSD tho.

I guess I’m a little confused by your smugglers doors comment .. Mine also has these in the boot. Are there any models that didn’t get them ?

At some point they loose the rear doors, then I guess they came back. I know someone with a green 12/71’ with a single plank that lifts up in that area under the rear mat instead of the doors, which do make it harder to get things into. But I guess they come back.

I would say that the bench style plank would be great for putting rifles into. The doors are somewhat difficult to put things in but I just have the tools and stuff it with foam for road noise dampening. The two door style has to be more rigid for the shell. One thing I haven’t done is put adhesive noise dampening in my car, I think it would help the excess road noise, I want to hear the engine but the bare shell of the car is not great, probably takes away from the sound of the engine. Its not cheap, I refuse to use the home depot option on my car.
